We are horrified by the recent discovery of 215 unmarked graves for Indigenous children found on the grounds of Kamloops Indian Residential School in British Columbia.
This heartbreaking news further exposes one of the darkest truths about our country; the existence of a residential school system that was specifically designed to suppress Indigenous peoples’ languages, cultures and communities. At Fengate, we stand with Indigenous peoples and communities, and it is our priority to educate ourselves further and reflect on this history as well as the diverse cultures and achievements of Indigenous peoples.
June is National Indigenous Month in Canada and, throughout this month and on an ongoing basis, we are committed to listening carefully, to learning, and to fully supporting the much-needed changes. Canada needs to do better.
