Construction on schedule with Virgin Hotels Las Vegas

August 31, 2020

Construction at the forthcoming Virgin Hotels Las Vegas remains on schedule and the hotel operations team will “receive the keys” to the property in November 2020, as planned. Virgin Hotels Las Vegas is an investment of the LiUNA Pension Fund of Central and Eastern Canada (LPFCEC) and this investment is managed by Fengate for LPFCEC.

The ownership group, comprising JC Hospitality, LLC, in partnership with LPFCEC, Fengate, Juniper Capital Partners, Virgin Group, Dream and Orlando Development, is carefully evaluating the previously announced Fall 2020 opening date due to the implications of COVID-19. The group expects to announce in September when Virgin Hotels Las Vegas will formally open to the public.

“The health and safety of all workers and the public remains of paramount concern,” said Joseph Mancinelli, LiUNA International Vice President and Regional Manager for Central and Eastern Canada. “The construction industry has come together to enforce heightened safety protocols throughout the pandemic, and men and women across the industry have remained on the frontlines building essential infrastructure across North America.”

“LiUNA Members are foundational pillars of our economy and are hard at work continuing to build stronger communities and state of the art infrastructure like Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. Onsite, we will continue to ensure that the health and safety of all workers remains at the center of all decision-making as we continue to evaluate opening date,” he said.

Virgin Hotels Las Vegas will feature innovative design and function with 1,505 exceptionally appointed chambers and suites in three luxurious towers, Ruby, Opal and Canyon. All chambers and suites will include the Virgin Hotels patented bed and in-room technology. Virgin Hotels Las Vegas will be home to the Mohegan Sun Casino at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, an immersive 60,000-square-foot casino operated by Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment. The completely reconceptualized casino floor will mirror the property’s modern desert vibe and the 24-hour casino will offer players a variety of experiences including slots, table games, high-limit areas, and a race and sports book.

A restaurant portfolio, complete with some of the country’s hottest restauranteurs, will include Virgin Hotels Las Vegas welcoming back the iconic Nobu and award-winning MB Steak. The property will also offer more than 130,000 square feet of meeting and convention spaces and will be home to over five acres of luxury poolside and outdoor venues amidst a desert landscape, including The Event Lawn, a 13,000 square foot outdoor entertainment space for concerts, private parties and events.
