Vertus is a 200-megawatt (MW) / 400 megawatt-hours (MWh) battery energy storage facility located in Galveston, Texas. Fengate’s utility-scale battery energy storage platform, Alpha Omega Power, developed the project as its first greenfield project.

Battery storage is essential to grid reliability in Texas where excessive heat and freezing weather significantly impact power demand. Vertus will provide enough power to supply more than 100,000 homes for up to four hours daily during peak electricity demand periods. 

With rising power demand across the country, battery storage provides an on-demand power source that can be built in the near-term and scaled quickly.
