Fengate’s New Oakville Hospital reaches substantial completion
Halton Healthcare’s New Oakville Hospital has reached substantial completion, bringing the Halton region one step closer to improved hospital services for the community. Within the project’s consortium, Fengate has been working alongside EllisDon and Carillion, acting as the manager of the special purpose vehicle that has ownership of the project. The project was completed on time and on budget. It is set to begin providing patient care services in December, 2015.
The New Oakville Hospital will replace the Oakville -Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTM H) which has reached capacity and is no longer able to expand on its current site. The new state of the art hospital will include 1.5 million square feet of new construction with an increased capacity of 457 inpatient beds and numerous health care services including:
- complex continuing care;
- renal dialysis;
- acute inpatient care;
- maternal child care;
- inpatient and outpatient adult and child and adolescent mental health;
- secondary and tertiary level programs.
As a part of the government’s commitment to creating and promoting energy conservation in Ontario, the New Oakville Hospital is designed and built to meet the Canada Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®), achieving LEED® Silver Certification. LEED® buildings focus on healthy indoor environments, reduced greenhouse gas emissions and efficient use of energy, water and other resources.
